Biografia
Sandy Carson is a self-taught photographer who was raised in the West of Scotland. He first picked up a camera during his teenage years, capturing his friends riding BMX bikes and playing music. At the age of 20, Sandy fell victim to a stab wound at the hands of a local gang in his hometown of Newmains. Following the injury (which he fully recovered from), Carson dropped out of college and invested his criminal injury settlement in a one-way ticket away from home.
In 1993 he emigrated to the U.S. An accomplished BMX rider, Carson turned professional just two years later, allowing him to travel to and throughout dozens of countries on tour and in competitions. Along the way, his photography skills continued to develop, and his photos enjoyed a wealth of success throughout the world of the international BMX media. Yet he never restricted himself. Carson's photography skills grew to include an instinct for capturing the uncanny moments of both the ordinary and mundane – in people, places and objects. These candid portraits, juxtaposed against Carson's action photography, drew numerous accolades which in turn landed his photos in exhibits throughout the U.S. and Europe.
