Ultimately I am interested in discussing the way hyper-capitalism is moulding our society. To talk about our global desire to improve, I realised I could utilise the peculiar relationship audiences have with film.
When watching movies, many people (certainly children) aspire to the protagonist’s character, and sometimes we adopt their phrases and elements of their costume. Embracing the role of a stand-up comedian, I attempt to re-enact scenes from particular movies. By consistently failing to replicate their macho or ‘cool’ performance, I critique a certain aspiration that always fails to deliver.
