Biografia
Born and raised in the Chicago land area, I have been fortunate enough to grow to be the artist that I am, thanks to motivation given to me through the creative environment that supports the arts here at home. Aside from my outside surroundings, I was raised in a house by two parents with very different backgrounds and cultures, gifting me with diverse outlook on life. Early on, I found that the most effective way I could learn and express myself was visually. From painting and drawing to sculpting and installation, creating art was my first language and the easiest outlet for me to communicate what is in my mind.
This especially developed through my pursuit in education. I am currently finishing my last year toward graduating with a BFA and have plans for applying to receive my MFA. I’m interested in further exploring and elaborating on concepts like activism and current events through a humanitarian perspective in my art. In a world where sharing and “liking” a Facebook article is considered expressing a stance or opinion, my dedication to creating work to represent my view strengthened. I have been working on activist themed art my entire life. The drive comes from my interest in bringing awareness to the Armenian Genocide, a controversial subject and issue close to my heart and ancestry. Over time my never ending “series” grew into shining light on the consequences of genocide denial in general.
Just this past semester, I had a shift in my ideas and am extremely determined to make this an upcoming solo show that incorporates new media, audio sculptures, laser cut sculptures, and now installations with Ferro fluid and magnetic putty. I am currently experimenting with sound vibrations and molten aluminum to bring to life a first of its kind art piece incorporating testimonies by survivors of forgotten genocides. The newest ideas I have are original, contemporary and vastly different than anything I have ever done or seen. With that said, I have never been so excited and passionate to make this vision come to life. I look forward to grow with this project and create work aside from this as I am and have been inspired during this process.
