Biography
Dimitriοs Skourtelis was born in Athens in 1959. He studied art at the 8th University of Paris, from where he graduated with honors, with specialization in Byzantine Art. Since then he has been practicing iconography of, at first by joining the art workshop of K. Georgakopoulos and simultaneously taking up personal projects. Today he collaborates with other iconographers also. He has produced, alone or in collaboration with others, many murals in over twenty temples in Athens and the provinces of Greece and in private chapels as well as a multitude of portable icons.
He participated in numerous art excibitions, and many personal ones. He received first price for his art from the cultural association "Parnassos", in 2012.
Moreover he illustrates books. He is a member of the Greek Chamber of Visual arts.
He studies and illustrates the Byzantine Medieval epic poems. He also studies the relationship between ancient Greece and Byzantium as well as Byzantine history.
He speaks English and French
