Giuseppe Forte. Biography
( written by Antonella Sciarpelletti and translated by Anna Maria Pisanti)

Assuming that it is true that the name of a person shows a lot about his personality, the case of Giuseppe is a certain confirmation. Forte means strong. As the energy he puts in his relations to the people by affirming himself and sometimes in a very dominant way.

He was born in the Northest border of Calabria, in South Italy in 1976 after 3 brothers and moved to Rome to study Biology when he suddenly discovers painting by hazard in 2006. He always reminds of a promise done to his PHD university tutor as a sort of challenge: if he was not going to be remembered as a HIV molecular biologist he was certainly going to be known as a painter .

So his discovery starts. Between canvas bought metres after metres and paints filtered in a very careful way in order to give the perception of the senses, directions, hidden images and visions. He plays with the primary colors. He aims to the essential also in the shape but he decomposes, between empy spaces and lines that –in a peremptory way- and delimitates spaces to be filled. He doesn’t go through the history, or the catalogues , the most authoritative critic voices. Who knows him can state that what really defines him is the sense of urgency.

His works come out of notes and do not prefer a verse. The request the attention of the observer by an intricate game of cross-reference, requests and light provocations. What Giuseppe shows his a powerful expression of himself, necessary and tiring that often projects himself, or we could say send him back to an originary dimension: his infancy.

“…to learn how to paint like a baby”, ambitious objective at the end of a long path, re-start from the beginning. This is the answer he has found to fill in the creative emptiness of the research left him. And today may be this is the sense hidden in his works.
