Biography
GARD, Galleria Arte Roma Design, was founded in 1995 with the aim of promoting and spreading the works of art and design of emerging artists and designers. Time has brought the gallery acknowledgements relating to its contents of particular creativity and imagination, both from Public Institutions and from the media, that have always shown great interest in the evolution of GARD. Today GARD has become a important nevralgic center for emerging artists, thus emerging as a meeting point as well as a place of experiment. In the years, a large number of renowned personalities in the worlds of plastic art, poetry, theatre and cinema, have approached the Gallery to cooperate with the gallerists in numerous endeavours.
Starting from 1997, GARD has chosen its location to be in a 600square meter space between the Gazometro and Piramide Cestia, in the former industrial area of the old river port of Rome.
The feature that gives this Gallery its touch of originality is the quality of its exhibition areas, set on two floor levels, the first being an open space with large glass panes and the second, different from the first, with a New York Chelsea atmosphere. Today there are about six hundred art figures among architects, designers, artists and art critics, who contribute to make GARD a unique phenomenon in Rome.
GARD is currently a multi-functional space, periodically dedicated to exhibitions and events of art and culture, but also to a fervid activity of promotion, commercialization and cooperation with other Italian and foreign Galleries.
GARD dedicates particular attention to experimenting new artistic languages, allowing them a space to meet and crossfertilize.
