Biography
Antonio sammartano lives and works in Trapani ( sicily) e Milan. His work includes sculpture, video, performance, photo, and painting — investigating issues as diverse and numbered as the mediums in which they are made. By the invention of protocols and distinct work methods, the artist manipulates objects, ideas and language and uses them as basic materials for the construction of multiple narratives in which the processes emerge as much as the accidents. As in the performance "blood and gold ", where Sammartano creates a dialogue without rules; or in "anonimo" in which the bodies are fleeing and "dematerialized" revealing an anti-body that lingers and relates to the nature and places of everyday artificial. "magnetikzone", an independent editorial project by the artist, interferes within magazines, books and diverse kinds of press, using their distribution channels and occupying their pages with specific writing projects.
