Biografia

Alexandra Wiesenfeld is a German-born, Los Angeles based artist, who works primarily in oil on canvas, and mixed-media on paper. Wiesenfeld draws and paints in layers, allowing the history of idea and feeling to inform her final choice of imagery. Time, choice, and a dialogue between reason and emotion are frequent themes in her practice, along with an invitation into narrative, which in her most recent series occurs through a fantasy of landscape.
Wiesenfeld has exhibited her work in recent solo exhibitions at Klowden Mann and the Happy Lion Gallery in Los Angeles, as well as in group exhibitions in Germany, New York, and throughout California. She received her BFA from Pomona College and an MFA from Montana State University, and is currently an Associate Professor at Los Angeles City College.
