Biografia

When you are looking at my work you are looking at me. My insecurities, my doubts, my fears and my past painful experiences. My paintings are emotive, surreal self portraits, my subconscious venting of past painful experiences. My goal as an artist is to cause an emotional reaction in the viewer, for the spectator to relate to the emotion in the painting.

I start my painting process with a memory or experience and I focus on what I feel about that moment. From that point I just sketch without putting to much thought into it. I like to let my subconscious flow and just see what shows up. I find that by not over thinking a piece that the emotion comes across stronger and resonates with the viewer even more. It is a very personal and therapeutic process.

The themes of my paintings are dark, often focusing on negative emotions like sadness, frustration, fear and anxiety. These are emotions that everyone has felt in there own daily lives and these emotions displayed on canvas is like a mirror for the viewer, reflecting there own past to them. My work helps the viewer to realize that we all as people have had these feelings and experiences, yet very few of us talk openly about these struggles. That is why the figures in my paintings do not have mouths because they are about the hidden feelings we have but do not talk about.
