The project Pimp My Mary born from the need to communicate a strong disagreement and separation from commercialization of the icon itself. Spirituality, by definition detachment from everything which is material and earthly,today has become consumism: the Madonna who, like soldiers, stand in rows on shelves retailers recalling cans in vending machines that are served, consumed and maybe collected.
For many people is more important to have a created icon built up directly from ourself reather than belive in what the image should truly rapresent, it follows the need for others to look for their sense of belonging to anything rather than trying to live ourselves: is the surrender to the society rather than become aware of our existence.
Submit an idea and/or take part to the event is totally FREE.
To take part you must send a textual proposal at the mail address pimpmymary@gmail.com or filling the contacts form on this page.
The proposals that will arrive will be taken into consideration by our staff for the second edition.
100 artists will be selected: 20 Gold Designer 20 Senior designer and 60 Junior Designer.
The staues will be sent to our expense to the selected partecipant.
The Madonnas must be sent back by the artists at their expense at the address: EXP. Carrara, Via Rossi 2/C, 54033 Carrara (Ms) Italia for the attention of EXP.
For the customization of the statue we recommend to use acrylic colors. In case you wish to personalize the staue with other colors/tools/instruments we recommend to make a white acrylic primer before starting with the customization.
