A 'journey' in the pictorial world and human story of Vincent Van Gogh through dance, ultimate expression of freedom, illuminated by a series of light-installations by Marika Marchese, which during the performance turn into wearable works by wrapping the dancers in a glow of light within a cloud of iridescent colours.
The dancers' bodies come together with the exhibition works in a swirl of colours which meet in an imaginary journey, the emotions in Vincent Van Gogh's paintings.
Marika presents her new project 'Le Voyage' with the dance company 'Antitesi' of Arianna Benedetti, part of the school, Balletto di Toscana. The work commemorates the 125th anniversary of the death of the painter Vincent Van Gogh, in the magnificent setting of the Florentine church of Santo Stefano al Ponte alongside the audio-visual exhibition 'Van Gogh Alive'.
Saturday May 23, with three showings which start at 7, 8 and 9pm.
