It hosts works of 12 artists such as Theodoros Kyrkos, Dimitris Vakalis, who studied and worked in Rome for many decades, Giuliano Katinis of Greek and Syrian origin, and Clara Fantini Tsaroucha, an Italian artist who lives permanently in Thessaloniki, northern Greece.
Themistoklis Demiris, Ambassador of Greece in Italy, stated that the two countries share common values and the same central idea concerning art: the search of beauty.
On behalf of the Council of Greeks Abroad, Katerina Giannaki claimed that the artists participating in the exhibition want to point out that the Mediterranean Sea is a sea of peace, not of war and destruction.
Sandro Gozi, Secretary to the Prime Minister in charge of EU Presidency affairs, said with a video message that the contribution of Greece and Italy to the Mediterranean civilization is invaluable. He pointed out that both countries have to be united to deal with big challenges and noted that Greece gave its battle during its Presidency of the European Union and now it is Italy’s turn to do the same.
The works of the exhibition “Italy – Greece: one face, one race – artistic avant-garde and tradition” will be on display until September 15.
