Are the winners and finalists of the different editions of Central Suburbs, the competition Federculture established in 2006 with the aim of bringing out new talent under 35 in the visual arts and give them real opportunities to enter the world of art.
In about ten years Centre-Periphery has selected hundreds of young artists from around the world and many of them allowed to exhibit in exhibitions and institutional centers of prestige as the Exhibition Palace, the MAXXI, the Baths of Diocletian and the Temple Adriano in Rome, Palazzo Ziino in Palermo, the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade, the international headquarters of Buenos Aires Alma Mater Bologna.
Participation in the competition has enabled many artists to undertake a career and succeed in the industry. For example: Tania Brassesco and Lazlo Passi Norberto, artistic duo, are exposing simultaneously with the exhibition in Venice in two personal: Sehnsucht in Regensburg in Germany and The Essence of Decadence in the US in Fairfield and in France in Montrouge in the collective of the Biennale d ' Art Contemporain JCE. Also their works have become part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Art in Muscarelle Williamsburgh USA alongside artists such as Cindy Sherman and David Hockney. The duo also took part in the exhibition "Under influences" directed by Antoine Perpere for the Maison Rouge in Paris, along with the likes of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Damien Hirst and Yayoi Kusama. After the experience of Central Suburbs, Michele Parisi won the Visual Arts San Fedele in Milan, he has held workshops at the MART of Trento and displayed in exhibitions in various cities such as Trento, Bolzano, Bologna, Genoa, Turin and Monaco of Bavaria . A success story is also that of Daniel Franzella that, after participating in the fifth edition of the competition, won the special prize in the edition 2013 of AXA Talent Prize and won the artist residency at the Kulturamt Dusseldorf where last Spring opened the personal chronicles of the city of Ur by Alessandro Pinto.
In this path the exhibition in Venice is another step forward in the project center-Periphery: the opening concurrent with the Art Biennale will, in fact, a great opportunity to promote the work of artists, as well as an opportunity for exchange and discussion .
The competition center Suburb comes from a broad alliance between cultural institutions and local authorities, through which we want to enhance the contribution of the territories in the formation and promotion of contemporary youth. In particular, the Venetian edition of the exhibition is sponsored by the City of Matelica, the Municipality of Milan and the Autonomous Province of Trento, it is in collaboration with the Cultural Foundation Gervasuti and Valorizzazioni and is sponsored by the Ministry of goods and Culture and tourism. Thanks, also, Confagricoltura Turin for wine tasting and typical products offered during the inauguration.
