There is about a new religion, a spiritual one is in the air without physicality. Without rites or temples, without priests and liturgies, just a desire to share, to a suction original pantheon, plural, universal. The unique spirituality spreads spontaneously passes through interactive forms of communication and community that generates the digital home and the vehicle of the box. In an age computed only a deity without materiality may be desirable, "a sacred disembodied, without time or space, without law, in which the gods may be summoned by anyone planning to call them" (Bettini).
The new polytheism becomes nostalgia for tradition, attracted to the myth, at a time out of time, lost in a space that cancels the boundaries, redraw the geography, quiets religious conflicts, welcomes the stranger, peaceful peoples.
Rises from the sea Neptune, ruler of the abyss, and once again the mystery of the Godhead. Sacred to the inhabitants of the islands, with its mass and severe superb, lives on the streets, ports, fountains. Flaunt with trident in his hand a proven manhood and is there to help sailors and seafaring men, sailors and city stretches along the coast protected by caves, where the god, weary of toil, he took refuge in the majestic wonder of boulders thrown into the sea. As all the gods, appears benevolent and wrathful, vengeful and generous, double and reversible. Eternal symbol of water and oceans, is primitive force, the creative energy, the archetype of a universe in flux, a metaphor for the fate of humanity. The gods, you know, are like men: we must love them and invoke them to get services and consolation.
Ten artists interpret a myth, an allegory of God, a way to say themselves through the grand narratives of the West. Which is a fantastic way to interrogate cultural models as true, the imaginary pretext to solicit clouded by lies and follies of contemporary life. Opportunity to rethink their own identity and collective, to descend into the depths of the unconscious or go back to look for a contact with the transcendent: the subject, like any form of myth, is mobile and ambiguous, available in endless demands. What is this, then, the new religion, that which is stripped of the miseries of everyday life and exposes us to the beauty of an ancient and authentic spirituality? And this never exhaustible.
