PRESS RELEASE
"My relationship with the canvas begins long before the creation of the painting itself."
Gianluca Stumpo
It will be inaugurated on Sunday 14 April, in Palazzo Pisani in Lonigo (VI) the exhibition "Gianluca Stumpo, Novels metropolitan", staff of the Bolognese artist known for the personal style and intimate.
An exhibition dedicated to the sacredness of everyday life, which will lead the visitor to discover warm and romantic atmosphere, primary and secondary colors in an infusion of artistic emotion experienced in messy atelier night.
An aesthetic that will trace the entire production of Gianluca Stumpo, born in 1980 and graduated in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna Davide Benati, through a distance of approximately 20 works.
"The red cadmium prepared by himself," says the curator Elli Gemmo "becomes a symbol of his work. With this fact Gianluca emphasizes vibrant color intensity that takes on more meaning in his work, what he intends to bring out the surface. The woman with the coat, the room, the atmosphere itself is permeated with this hot color. "
From a first love for Byzantine art fetches a habit which leads him to prepare physical support on which to paint, created with ingredients of ancient wisdom as the gelatin ee chalk. Whether hessian or wooden board, the work is embellished handmade artist's contribution, which makes it unique.
His painting is a constant reference to a personal world, intimate, by means of symbols that are inserted through the color in the pictures.
It tells the newspaper with an eye both inside and outside, a contrast is always mediated by warm colors between metropolitan life and intimacy of home.
In this, Stumpo proves to be a skilled observer of what is happening around him.
A painting realistic, almost photographic, but do not want to ever approach the perfectionism of hyper-realism inspired by the words of the artist, "Hopper and Guttridge, feeling the painting alive and, at times, even sketched, using the ' emotion, rather than perfection "
From photography to canvas expands and overlaps, often in a collage, images that come directly from a vision of the world.
From bicycle "Jasmin" at the scene of breastfeeding "7:42 Life" Stumpo get to transpose the paintings a deep sense of familiarity, as if he were describing the lives of all of us, instilling a part of the sacred moments in everyday .
As if to mention Hermes Maria Ronchi, Stumpo "not interested in a flowering of sacred that is not human, it does not happen at the center of life."
His artistic research continues to explore the unfinished parts of the picture that leaves incomplete on the canvas, in balance with each other.
It's more complicated find the right spot to stop than to continue to paint.
And in the middle of the red that permeates the surface of his paintings, Gianluca Stumpo found it.
