MUSEUM OF MADNESS

The Museum of Madness edited by Vittorio Sgarbi will propose more than two hundred works of Antonio Ligabue and Peter Ghizzardi: 190 those of the painter of Gualtieri, 37 works of Viadana-borettano. Being set up inside the Palazzo della Ragione a maze where they will be placed the works selected for EXPO 2015.

From the Journal of Mantua: "The exhibition will be the richest of works which will be inaugurated Monday, May 18 to 18 in Mantua, with opening and closing the day after November 22: Palazzo della Ragione host the Museum of Madness edited by Vittorio Sgarbi, with the exhibition of 190 works by Antonio Ligabue Gualtieri, including 12 paintings and 2 unpublished drawings from private collections, and 37 works of Peter Ghizzardi, born in Viadana and then moved to Boretto, never before exhibited and published. For organizers is "an invaluable opportunity to meet the historical context - explains their notice - and to know the unusual, leaving seduced by the art of two representatives of the '900 mediopadano, who with hallucinatory air, a sense of nature, adherence to the humanity edge of survival material and spiritual, were capable of a vigorous fight, even when it seemed lost in the mists of madness. "

Here, then, for the first time 12 oils Ligabue: Horse dated from 1939 to 1942; a portrait dating back to 1941; executed between 1948 and 1950 horses to the plow; between 1952 and 1962 Portrait of a Woman; Scorpio, in two different versions; Rural landscape; Black widow spider with prey; Cat with the mole; dated between 1953 and 1954 Head of tiger while Landscape with dogs goes back to the years 1953-1955. Between 1957 and 1958 it identified the date of Hare. Two new drawings are not dating Moose and Horse.

Among the 37 new works of Peter Ghizzardi are mixed techniques Claudia Cardinale, 1960, 1968 Marilin and Mina in 1970. Hours: Mondays from 14 to 19.30; Tuesday-Friday and Holidays: 10-19.30; Saturday: 10-23 Full ticket 10 €, reduced 8.50 (case closes one hour earlier).

Exhibitions connected, also curated by Sgarbi, are art and madness (that the Labyrinth of Franco Maria Ricci in Fontanellato, in the province of Parma, will present 30 works by Antonio Ligabue and 50 of Peter Ghizzardi, including 9 new songs: the opening May 29, closing on October 31) and Treasures of Italy, Eataly Space Expo, from 15 May to 31 October (in the collective contemplating different artists for each region, will feature the work of Antonio Ligabue 'Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy Peter Ghizzardi). Three exhibitions in one, therefore, organized on the occasion of Expo Milano 2015 by the Studies Archive Antonio Ligabue Parma, chaired by Augusto Agosta Tota. The goal: to make enjoyable the work of two outstanding artists of the late twentieth century, proposing both historicized and unpublished works. "
