unit of time_4, berlin 2008
Which unit of time do we refer to, when we say Time? Do we refer to the age of Earth or to the age of a queen? Do we think about the cycle of water and imagine the thousand-year old Icelandic glaciers? Maybe our measurement of time is just the one of the last news cycle. Nefertiti shows us her frail neck. We don’t need to contact her eyes to recognize she is the extreme eternal beauty, the most beautiful woman in Berlin. A “Blow Up” model from 1000 B.C. or earlier. She recognizes us without looking, she does not need earphones to know either our reigns or the permanent revolutions of our world, or our factory units. Standing and staring, we try to catch the mystery in the unit of time of a snapshot. The project “Unit of time” began at the end of the Nineties as a research about the relationship between man and artwork and the pictures were taken during art shows at different museums and galleries. “Unit of time _ 4” was taken in Berlin in 2008.
