¿Crecerán las flores? (Will the flowers grow up?)

Installazione, Architettura, Politico/Sociale, Paesaggio, Metallo, 2300x420x1700cm
This monumental installation refers to a tragic event known as ‘Masacre de Tlatelolco’, a series of demonstrations and repressive actions occurred in Mexico City in 1968. The installations is composed of 68 cylindrical elements alluding this emblematic date. 64 are chromatic variations in red, symbolizing dead bodies and massive killing actions; the other 4 have been colored in green, recalling the lights used by police airplanes when attacking the people. White elements, together with a set of military hats suspended in the air, recall the masked aggression and the repressive strategy. In the wall we can see a gigantic wound, referring the pain suffered by the Mexican civic society during and after the attack. The tile of the piece appears under questions marks, ¿Crecerán las flores? (Will the flowers grow up?) alluding to the amalgamation of despair and hope.
