...While others are yet considering and discussing new approaches and exhibiting opportunities in Berlin for young, emerging as well as established artists, the Berlin Artists Going Live (BAGL) have already taken initiative – unnoticed by official cultural policy and any governmental art promotion– and established with „BAGL afFAIRS 2011“ and „BAGL SPRINGtime 2011“ two major art exhibitions in Berlin this year.
With BAGL SPRINGtime 2011 spring is blessing appropriate during the Gallery Weekend in Berlin – 43 artists will present their works and let their creativity “sprout and flow”. But there are not only numerous artists from the cultural capital or „the Mecca of contemporary art“ (to cite Berlin’s Mayor Klaus Wowereit – by the way a visit of BAGL SPRINGtime might be interesting for him too, even though it is not his own project…) showing their contemporary artwork. Artists from all over Germany (from Hamburg to Munich) take part in this project and also several international artists will participate – as here, too, BAGL as „art institution for all senses“ is open and will not generate any artificial limitations.
BAGL SPRINGtime 2011 is conceived more as comprehensive art event than just as picture show or traditional exhibition. On two levels with over 1000 sqm space art lovers, curators, collectors and any others, who are interested in non-daily-entertainment, will be able to discover and experience – aside of many pieces of modern art in the area of painting, installation, photography, sculpture, multimedia and digital art – most diverse musicians („Pentaphone“, „Einfach Schulz“, „Daniel und Daniel“, „Der Franz“, „Dieter Rita Scholl“), performances (Maria Asskaf), an art auction and a writing workshop about “creative writing in colorful worlds of images” (Kirsten Heidler). Additionally each visitor is given the opportunity to experience modern art interactively in a guided tour via MP4-player, with personal comments, explanatory notes and thoughts of artists on their exhibited works of art.
BAGL SPRINGtime 2011 will take place from Friday 29 April 2011 to Tuesday 3 May 2011 and is open every day from 11:00 until 21:00 h (admission 4,- Euro per person, reduced admission 2,- Euro / admission free for visitors under 16) and is central located (S-Bahn station „Hackescher Markt“) at Spandauer Straße 2, 10178 Berlin.
A Vernissage will take place as “SPRINGin” each day on 29 and 30 April, starting at 17:00 h. For the writing workshop on Sunday 1 May 2011 (starting at 15:00 h for about 2 hours, contribution per person 8,- Euro incl. admission) a pre-registration is required at Kirsten Heidler (Tel. 030-2162732 / Mobil: 0177-4695649 / Mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
At the end of this year’s BAGL SPRINGtime finally the Finissage „SPRINGout“ will take place on Tuesday 3 Mai, starting at 17:00 h and artworks provided by the artists will be sold in an auction, beginning at 19:00 h.
For BAGL afFairs 2011, to be held this art autumn 2011 in Berlin, there are already applications from artists of all areas accepted.
